FAQs

For new, current and potential clients.

  • Goode Thoughts Therapy is considered an out-of-network provider. This means you will submit payment in full at the time of service and then will be provided a monthly superbill to submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement.  Depending on your coverage, your portion is oftentimes similar to a co-pay you would be paying with an in-network provider.

As an out-of-network provider, we can determine the best plan of treatment for each individual rather than the insurance provider. Being in-network requires that they can decide the length and frequency of our client’s treatment and mandate diagnoses or deny coverage at any time. Being out-of-network allows us to plan your treatment based on your true needs!

Before beginning counseling services, speaking with your insurance company to ensure you understand your benefits can be helpful. Questions you may want to ask include:

    * Do I have out-of-network coverage for behavioral health?

    * What is my deductible for out-of-network behavioral health benefits?

    * What is the reimbursement rate after my deductible has been met?

    * Do I have a limit for the number of sessions annually?

    * Could I attend a session more than once a week and still be reimbursed?

  • Appointments must be canceled within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment time. If the appointment is canceled with less than 24 hours of notice, you will be charged the full session fee.

  • Fees vary depending on the type of service. There are also limited sliding scale slots available for those demonstrating need. Please reach out for a free 15-minute consultation to discuss rates and more!

  • Walk & talks are when the client and the therapist walk together outside, connecting with nature while engaging in therapy. These will often occur in parks or neighborhoods near the in-person office. The meeting spot will be determined before the session. Walk and talks have been proven to benefit the therapeutic process as they allow the client to share more openly and offer a less intimidating setting than the office.

With younger clients, walk-and-talks could also include sitting outside on a blanket and engaging in conversation or play therapy outdoors. Being in nature can have a healing effect on many. Click here to learn more about walk-and-talk therapy in our blog!

  • After a 15-minute free consultation to ensure we are a good fit, we would schedule an intake session. Intake sessions are the first appointments where the therapist can get background information about you or your child.

Intake sessions are typically scheduled for 60 minutes. Depending on the client’s age, they may or may not participate in the intake session. If they are younger, clients typically will join towards the end of the session for a smooth transition to starting therapy. The intake session is a great starting point for building your therapeutic relationship. During the intake session, you will also determine you or your child's therapy schedule.

  • Treatment plans vary from client to client, although starting with weekly therapy sessions is recommended. It takes 4-6 weeks for the client and therapist to build a strong rapport before working toward goals. If the client and/or the client’s family and the therapist agree that goals are being met, then the client may move to bi-weekly or monthly sessions for maintenance.
